Traveling to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, offers a unique blend of history, culture, and scenic beauty. Nestled in the Lehigh Valley, this charming town is famous for its rich heritage and vibrant community. Whether you’re planning a day trip or a weekend getaway, there’s plenty to do and see. It is famously know for being a “Hallmark” Christmas town and even has the nickname Christmas Town, USA. Several Christmas movies have actually been filmed here. It truly is a beautiful place to visit with many neighboring towns such as Easton, Nazareth, and Allentown that offer so much to see and do as well.
Top Attractions to See
When visiting Bethlehem, you can’t miss the historic downtown area known for its colonial architecture and lively atmosphere. Our first stops downtown were the Moravian Book Store which is the oldest bookstore in America. Such a neat place! Across from there you should stay at or visit the Historic Hotel Bethlehem. It is gorgeous! We enjoyed a drink at the bar and took in all of their Christmas decor. There is a shop downstairs as well that offers many unique items. They even offer horse drawn carriage rides during the holiday season! Another must-see destination is the Moravian Museum, which gives insight into the city’s founding in the 1740s. Another notable spot is Burnside Plantation, where visitors can explore the beautiful gardens and learn about early American farming practices. The nearby SteelStacks offer music and art events. We were able to attend the Christkindal Market at the SteelStacks this past December. So many venders! Great place to get into the holiday spirit. The Wind Creek Casino and resort are also located in Bethlehem, Pa. You can find several outlet stores and Breweries and restaurants attached to the Casino and hotel as well. This is right near the SteelStacks. We stayed at the Candlewood Suites Bethlehem South by IHG. This was about a 10 minute drive to downtown, but was located near the SteelStacks and Casino. We didn’t make it to the local Farmer’s Markets, but heard they are amazing.

No trip is complete without experiencing local cuisine. Bethlehem boasts a variety of dining options from cozy cafes to upscale restaurants. For a true taste of the area, try the Bethlehem Brew Works, which pairs craft beers with delicious American fare. If you’re in the mood for something sweet, don’t forget to stop by Waffle House for their delectable waffles and syrup selections, popular among both locals and visitors alike. We had a blast listening to live music and enjoying dinner at McCarthy’s Red Stag Pub and Whiskey Bar! They have an awesome shop in front of the restaurant too.
